Computer Forensics Tools

Generally, computer forensics is the procedure of computer system investigation by means of gathering and examining all information and proofs related to computers. The process is done to find out the illegal use of the files and system in any crime or deceitful activities.

Through time, computer forensics tools have been deemed useful by the various agencies like the law enforcement, military, intelligence and other businesses. Since the process is not only tedious but is also recognized to be a way of uncovering certain wrongdoings, all of the gathered evidences are required by the court.

Aside from recovering all computer data, computer forensics is likewise concerned with digging out all possible angles that may point out the so-called rascal contractors or employees who have been greatly involved in the act of leaking out certain information, company projects and plans to a third party.

Only the computer forensics specialists can put in the techniques of uncovering fraudulent actions and crimes into materialization. With its application being widely used in almost all fields, company employers nowadays concern themselves in tracking down the best computer forensics professionals so that they can be assured that their properties are safe at all costs. Moreover, only these professionals are the ones who are entitled and knowledgeable to apply the computer forensics tools.

The investigators nonetheless make use of computer forensics tools as they collect the pertinent data from the system yet without changing any of the information keyed into the computer's data bank. The computer forensics tools are held to be very important since the original data must not at all be changed or else the purpose of uncovering the malicious act will be defeated.

Originally, it is very difficult and almost impossible not to alter any of the stored data but with the tools that the computer forensics experts use, they can ensure than no alterations will be made as they scan through the saved data. In fact, even the simple act of shutting down the computer's power system may cause some slight changes to the system's databank.

However, when done by the expert, the originality of the information is kept intact. To do this, the computer forensics professional often creates an authenticated copy of the data. The process is referred to as imaging and is thus presented as the subject for scrutiny.

Another wonder that the computer forensics tool can make is the possibility of recovering any deleted data. As the professionals put it, any deleted data is not at all erased from the entire system. What is usually wiped off is the reference to its location.

The data, therefore, still exists only that the operating system is no longer acquainted about it. With imaging and seeing through all of the information kept in the system, it is by all means possible to recover any intentionally or accidentally deleted data.

The computer forensics tools are not limited to a specific task just like a hammer is intended for hammering a concrete nail. They are by nature multi-functioning. The experts in computer forensics know which of the tools from their toolkit they should use to tackle the problem at hand.

More so, the costs of the computer forensic tools vary. Most of the commercialized tools amount to thousands of dollars. Again, it is the intensity of the problem which will determine the right tool to utilize.

Open Source Software

If you've spent any lengthy amount of time on the Internet, you've probably heard of open source software but might not have fully understood what it is and why it even exists.  This article will describe this recent phenomenon and describe some of its benefits for the software using community.

In a nutshell, open source software is software made by everyone - for everyone. The hopes behind its development is that through its open access, it will evolve into something that represents the true desires of computer users. Through a wide network of user involvement, the software in question is enhanced and debugged without costs or administrative politics.

Traditionally, software is developed behind closed doors. A team of professional coders build it but the community at large isn't part of its conception. It's costly to produce and as you can probably guess, that cost is passed on to the end user: the consumer. Open source software on the other hand is free. Free to download, free to install, free to use, free to modify, and free to share.

Started over twenty years ago, it's a phenomenon that is gaining in both popularity and exposure. In its first conception, open source gave birth to the World Wide Web as we know it today. The Internet as a whole is the result of free permission to access the web, use the web, contribute to the web, and share the web with others. But it certainly hasn't stopped there. In the not too distant past, Netscape converted its once commercial version of its Navigator web browser to open source. And today, open source is venturing into the commercial realm as well.

At first thought, the idea of open source may sound just plain crazy to those who earn a living from software development. But the facts point to a different prediction. Open source software puts companies in a terrific position to re-brand and re-position themselves in a market that they may have not been able to reach before. In the business world, open source is all about image and when consumers witness corporations contributing (instead of selling) to the buying public, they gain big favor in the eyes of their users (plus tremendous opportunities to sell other items).

Inviting the public inside a product's development builds community and trust. It also sets the platform for increased reliability. Fans of open source programs are adamant about reliable software and highly criticize commercialized versions for being buggy and error-prone. Avid fans even proclaim commercialism is the cause of shoddy software.

Another benefit that open source brings to light is the speed at which its products are developed, enhanced, supported and distributed. This is because the people who regularly contribute to an open source product do so for unmotivated reasons (other than perhaps to feed the ego.) They're highly talented, they're available, and they care. Bringing money into any project can almost mean instant death. It can kill motivation, desire, and a true willingness to create a good product. In a commercial setting, participants work for a paycheck rather than for the product. And this is what puts open source projects far ahead of its monetized competition.

As a software user, this means you can contribute to an open source project as well, and help to develop it into a product that reflects your direct preferences. You aren't "stuck" using open source software the way you would be stuck using an expensive word processor or database. You have the same access to open source software as its programmers have and in essence, you are your own customer!

Perhaps at this point you're wondering where you can get in on this wonderful opportunity. There are plenty of open source opportunities sprinkled across the Internet and they can be easily found though any search engine. Google "open source project" and you'll be sure to find more resources than you can shake a stick at!

A Great Game

A Gentle Reminder for Programmers

It's easy to get lost in all the details of building a great video or computer game - so easy in fact, that we can forget the parts of a game that make them fun to play. The following serves as a gentle reminder of what prompts players to play games in the first place. Refer to this reminder in the event that you get bogged down or distracted with confusing C++ syntax, or lines and lines of Visual Basic statements and DLL structures.
1. Remember the player is the main character. Here's a secret between you and me: People play games to gain a sense of control. If you can manage to program your game in a way that puts the player in control, then you've already won half the battle. This doesn't mean to suggest that the game should be easy. It simply means that when a gamer runs home from school or drives home from work to play a video game, she wants to feel the control that she didn't have during the hours between nine and five. The outcome of a game - whether it's a win or a loss - should never be random, but the result of a good, controlled game play instead.

2. KISS. Remember that acronym? It stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. We all know that programming a game is hard business, but believe us when we say we don't want to be reminded of it. The difficulty of programming a game should never be part of the game play so when possible, make the game easy to start, easy to navigate, and of course, easy to play. We're not asking for pre-school strategy here, but on the other hand, we don't want to feel as dumb as a pre-schooler either. Forget the hundred page manual. Nobody except the truly obsessed is going to read it anyway. Build your game for the average Joe and everyone will be your fan.

3. Add plenty of action. And add lots of it too. The more action you add to your game, the more attention players will pay attention to it. And the more that players pay attention to your game, the more addictive your game gets. For every action that a player's character makes, have the game react and then prompt the player for more.

4. Make the story a good one. Nothing is worse than playing a game only to wonder what you're doing and why. Purpose is and always has been a human obsession. But without it, we're left wandering... in the darkness... wondering bizarre things like how the house would look in a coat of bright pink paint. Don't give your players the opportunity to waste time like that. Give them a mission and make sure your game reminds them what the mission is at opportune times and why they must complete it.

5. Give us eye candy. But make it relevant. The graphics in a game shouldn't be distracting, they should make our eyeballs glaze over with satisfaction upon seeing them, and then salivate for more. Graphics should contain clues and entice us further and further into the game until we've beaten the thing.

6. Make it real. Fantasy games are okay, but what makes them cool is the fact that they're realistic. It's hard to get into something that isn't familiar or that there's no way we could ever experience. But if you can implement some reality into your games, players will appreciate it and relate to it on a whole new respectable level.

Importance of A Good Design

Your website is the hub of your online business; it is the virtual representation of your company whether your company exists physically or not. When you are doing business online, people cannot see you physically like how they could if they were dealing with an offline company. Hence, people do judge you by your covers. This is where a good design comes in.

Imagine if you are running an offline company. Would you allow your salespersons to be dressed in shabby or casual clothes when they are dealing with your customers? By making your staff wear professionally, you are telling your customers that you do care about quality. This works simply because first impressions matter.

Similarly, the same case is with your website. If your website is put together shabbily and looks like a 5 minute "quick fix", you are literally shouting to your visitors that you are not professional and you do not care for quality.

On the opposite, if you have a totally professional looking website layout, you are giving your visitors the perception that you have given meticulous attention to every detail and you care about professionalism. You are organised, focused and you really mean business.

On the other hand, you should also have anything related to your company well designed. From business cards to letterheads to promotional brochures, every little bit matters. This is because as you grow your business, these items become the face of your business. Once again, think of the "salesperson dressed shabbily" anology, and you will get my point.

Flash-based Sites

Flash-based sites have been a craze since the past few years, and as Macromedia compiles more and more great features into Flash, we can only predict there will be more and more flash sites around the Internet. However, Flash based sites have been disputed to be bloated and unnecessary. Where exactly do we draw the line? Here's a simple breakdown.

The good:

Interactivity

Flash's Actionscript opens up a vast field of possibilities. Programmers and designers have used Flash to create interactve features ranging from very lively feedback forms to attractive Flash-based games. This whole new level of interactivity will always leave visitors coming back for more.

A standardized site

With Flash, you do not have to worry about cross-browser compatibility. No more woes over how a certain css code displays differently in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. When you position your site elements in Flash, they will always appear as they are as long as the user has Flash Player installed.

Better expression through animation

In Flash, one can make use of its animating features to convey a message in a much more efficient and effective way. Flash is a lightweight option for animation because it is vector based (and hence smaller file sizes) as opposed to real "movie files" that are raster based and hence much larger in size.

The bad and the ugly:

The Flash player

People have to download the Flash player in advance before they can view Flash movies, so by using Flash your visitor range will decrease considerably because not everyone will be willing to download the Flash player just to view your site. You'll also have to put in additional work in redirecting the user to the Flash download page if he or she doesn't have the player installed.

Site optimization

If your content was presented in Flash, most search engines wouldn't be able to index your content. Hence, you will not be able to rank well in search engines and there will be less traffic heading to your site.

Loading time

Users have to wait longer than usual to load Flash content compared to regular text and images, and some visitors might just lose their patience and click the Back button. The longer your Flash takes to load, the more you risk losing visitors.

The best way to go is to use Flash only when you absolutely need the interactivity and motion that comes with it. Otherwise, use a mixture of Flash and HTML or use pure text if your site is purely to present simple textual and graphical information.

Avoid When Using Web Templates

Website templates are very affordable and they save you a lot of effort and time when you want to create a new layout for your website. However, a lot of people make mistakes in the process of choosing and using a web template and end up with something that was unlike the image they had in mind. Here are some guidelines to help you avoid those mistakes.

The first obvious mistake you should be aware of is using a template that is very popular. If many people use the same template, your website will not appear unique at all and your credibility as a solid, different website will be tarnished. In other words, you will appear generic just like your next-door neighbours.

To whole point of using a web template is to save time and effort. You just change the title and appropriate details and you're done. The biggest mistake one makes is to customize the template beyond recognisation. While that may be good in the sense that you're creating a unique graphic, you're defying the very purpose of using a web template -- saving time and effort.

However, on the opposite side, if a template you purchase is suitable but some changes must be made to suit your site's theme, then you will have to take some time to make the changes. For example, you can find a very nice template that suits your hobby site except the original designer has put an image of stamps in the header. You can find images of garden plants and spades to replace the stamps for your gardening hobby site. However, do only make the necessary changes and don't redesign the whole template.

In some circumstances, some people simply make the wrong choice of templates. This is a very subjective issue but you have to be careful in selecting templates to suit your audience. Do not choose templates just because they are pretty, choose them because they serve your purpose.

Buy From Your Site

Convincing your prospects to purchase from you is a hard job, but have you ever thought that you're making the process twice as difficult for both parties if your prospects are convinced but don't know how to buy from you? No matter how good you are at convincing your prospects, they won't buy if they find the process cumbersome.

First, you will want to check that people can find your order form easily and hassle-free. You can write a clear, concise paragraph to direct your prospects to your order form so that you can minimize the chances of them getting lost. You can also reduce the chances of losing prospects by putting a prominent link to your order page from every other page on your site.

Also, do you offer multiple payment options? Some people may feel comfortable paying via Paypal, some may only want to pay with their credit card and others might want to send a cheque. The more options you offer, the better your chances of covering your prospects' desired payment method. After all, it wouldn't make any sense to sell hard to a prospect only to find that they won't be able to pay you when they want to.

On the other hand, you will want to prove that you are a credible merchant. Is your order form secured using encryption technology? You would want to look into SSL for this. You can also offer a money back guarantee so that people will feel confident about buying from you. How about after sales support? Who do they contact when they have problems after purchasing?

Alternatively, you can add customer testimonials, your contact information, address, and so on to boost your prospects' confidence. Make them feel safe about buying something from you, a total stranger to them on the other end of the Internet.

As a conclusion, it would be very pitiful if you sold hard and sold well to a prospect and something goes wrong when he or she is ready to pay. Eliminate any chances of that to maximize your profits!

Disc Quality

The high demand and dramatic increase in CD media,
plus the competitive pressures to squeeze out
every possible cost and improve the profit margins
have given rise to many manufacturers of CD related
media.  To help reduce the costs of increasing
capacity, many of these firms have relocated their
old manufacturing lines and hired staff that learn
on the job.

The biggest problems with CDs occurs when discs are
produced using older equipment then end up failing
when you try to use them.  Luckily, most of these
types will fail when you first try to record on
them.  There is however, a likelihood that the disc
will complete a burn and the media won't play at
all.

The agony of taking your photo or video treasures
and putting them on CD or DVD and then deleting them
from your camera or computer only to realize that
the copy is corrupted is far too much to risk.  The
brand name company's such as Verbatim choose to
guard their reputation for quality and durability
by using only advanced recording dye and other
types of technology to produce high speed discs.

The stability of the recording dye is very critical
as heat, humidity, oxygen, and even UV light can
degrade the dye.  Verbatim research has also proven
there is a strong correlation between the production
and bonding processes of disc quality.

For data and personal pictures that are important,
you should always buy quality CD media.  Then,
before you go ahead and delete the source file,
trying playing the disc back to ensure that it
copied correctly.  This way, you won't have to
worry about losing your precious files and photos
when you remove the source from your computer.

Quality At A Cheap Price

There has never been a better time than now to have
your audio book, music project, computer data, or
CD-R business card duplicated.  Unlike the days gone
by, these processes are cheaper than ever before -
even for those on a budget.

Over the last several years, the costs of blank CDs
have dropped quite a bit.  The retail chains such
as Office Max, Staples, and Best Buy run specials
on blank CDs where you can purchase a 50 CD-R spindle
for under $20.  You can even find similar deals
on Froogle, such as a 50 pack spindle of blank CD-R
disks for less than $12.

Those interested in CD duplication at home, will find
that many of the newer computers come packages with
a CD burner included at prices under $500.  If you
already own a computer and want to add an internal
CD burner, several retailers have brands for under
$50.  You can also purchase an external CD burner
for all your needs for under $100.

Making cheap duplications of CDs even more affordable
are the powerhouses such as DiscMakers, Oasis,
and CDman, all of whom specialize in duplicating
large quantities of CDs at low prices.  Not only
do these powerhouses offer superior quality at
a great price, but they also give great deals
on graphics, CD inserts, and jewel cases as well.

With cheap prices, you can get everything you need
at a price you can't argue with.  If you've
copied CDs in the past, you can quit paying high
costs and save yourself a ton of money.  Those
who offer CD duplication at a cheap price are
great at what they do - saving you a ton of money
for your CD duplication needs.

CD Mastering

Even though many assume that the mixing of the
seperate audio tracks is the final step, a recording
should always be mastered well in order to sound
great.  CD mastering is the final chance for
creative input when you create a compact disc.
After the discs has been mastered, it can be printed,
reproduced, and then sold.

The process of mastering a CD actually involves
several steps.  The first step is putting the songs,
or tracks at this point in the correct order.  The
length of time between the songs is also adjusted,
along with the editing of the songs.  Any unlisted
or secret songs on the CD are normally added at
this point as well.

There are several ways that you can go about
mastering a CD.  First of all, the mix can be
sent to a professional CD mastering engineer,
which is what professional musicians normally
decide to do.

The mastering engineers will often work in their
own mastering facilities, which are very different
from standard studios, in the fact that they have
much less gear and are designed for the best
possible playback of the mix as possible in
order to fix anything that's wrong.

Aside from mastering engineers, CDs can also be
mastered at home using computer software.  This
option is normally more realistic for unsigned
artists or musicians who are just starting out
with their music.  Depending on the software
quality and skill of the individual doing the
mastering, the CD may turn out perfect or it
may sound very unprofessional.

You can also refer to online CD mastering as
another option.  Cds that are mastered online
can be great, as instead of sending a mix to a
mastering engineer, the mix is instead sent
via the Internet.  To do this, you'll need a
high speed Internet connection.

The cheapest way to go about mastering a CD is
with free mastering.  Artists and musicians may
choose to use free mastering programs with
demos or other earlier recordings that artists
will use to send to major record labels to
generate some interest in their music.

The major differences with a professional CD
and an amateur recording is normally found in
the mastering.  Every song that you hear played
on the radio is thoroughly mastered in order
to sound better.

While you can master using free programs or
your computer, a professional CD mastering
engineer is normally the best way to do business
if your band is looking to make a profit from
your music.

CD Terminology

Below, you'll find the most common terminology that
relates to CD duplication.  Even if you are new to
duplication, the terms below may help you learn more.

BLER
Block Error Rate.  This is the raw digital error rate
before any type of error correction.

CD
This the Compact Disc, a digital medium that's formed
of a 12cm polycarbonate substrate, a reflective
metalized layer, and a protective lacquer coating.

CD-R
Compact Disc-Recordable.  The term CD-R is used to
describe the technology of recordable CD along with
the equipment, software, and media that are used to
make the recordable disks.

Data layer
With CD-R media, this is the organic dye that is
sandwiched between the polycarbonate substrate and
the metalized reflective layer of the media.  CD-R
disks don't have any data on them at all until the
are recorded.

Injection Molding
This is a manufacturing method where the molten
material is forced into a mold, normally under
high pressure, then cooled so that the material
will take on the shape of a mirror image in the
mold.

Media or blanks
CD-R media are the disks that are used to record
digital information using a special recorder and
premastering software with a computer.  These discs
are made of a polycarbonate substrate, a layer of
organic dye, a metalized reflective layer, and a
coating of lacquer for protection.

Organic dye
The data layer of CD-R media is made from a dye
that is melted during the process of recording.
Where the dye is melted, becomes opaque or
refractive, scattering the reading laser so that
it isn't reflected back into the reading sensors.

Reflective layer
This is the  metal later that sits on top of the
dye that reflects the laser beam back to the
reading assembly.  This is normally 24k gold in
CD-R disks, although it can be silver as well.

CD Ripper

CD ripper software will open up an entirely new
way of how you listen to music.  With the use of
CD ripping software, you can take audio tracks
from a CD and them into audio files for use on
your computer.  You can save them as WAV, MP3, OGG,
or WMA audio files.  The term "ripping" is the
term used to describe this very process.

There are advanced CD ripper software as well,
which allows you to convert back and forth between
these formats.  You can also get software that
can record vinyl LPs and cassettes to create those
same audio files for your computer.

You can get a variety of ripper software programs
online by searching the internet.  Most software
is user friendly and offers you a variety of
options.  You should however, do some searching
and comparing before you decide which CD ripper
program is best for your needs.

Each type of CD ripper software will offer it's
own style and interface.  You should always make
sure the CD ripper software you choose is easy
to use and easy to understand.  It doesn't matter
how good the software is - if you can't use it.

When you explore the options of CD ripper software,
make sure you also check the software's editing
abilities.  With most programs, you can select
the output format for the music.  This will
include the bitrate, channels, and even the
frequency.

Quality ripper programs will also tag the
encoded audio files with medadata, which will
contain information about the artist, song title,
track number, and even the album title.  This
will automatically be input for the file.

Another great feature with some ripper programs
is the ability to delete the silence at the
beginning or end of song tracks.  Some programs
will even give you the ability to edit the
songs themselves, giving you full control of
the sound provided by your files.

For those who enjoy to listen to their music
from a CD, a CD ripper can aso be used to
select your favorite songs and create a mixed
CD.  Some rippers will even let you rip audio
tracks directly from a CD then burn them to a
new CD - without having to save them as a new
audio file.

With millions of people ripping CDs these days,
CD ripping is the wave of the future.  You no
longer have to keep your music on your computer,
as you can rip them to a CD or even put them
in your favorite MP3 player and take the music
with you - wherever you go.

EVE Online Game

Even If you have just gotten started playing EVE Online, you are already probably aware of the existence of EVE Online ore. Mining for ore is one of the best ways to get ahead in this complicated, versatile game, and you'll find that with just a little bit of work and some basic information under your belt that you'll be in good shape to understand ore, it's place in EVE Online, and how you can make the ore you mine work the best for you!

As several awards and more than 220,000 active accounts, it is easily seen that the EVE Online game is one massive multiuser online role playing game that you want to get into! This game, created by the Icelandic company CCP, has been active and popular for the past five years, and continues to grow at an impressive rate. You'll find that with a little bit of knowledge about this game and brief idea of the game play, you'll be ready to get started and see what this fascinating game world has to offer.

The general premise of the EVE Online game is one where the Earth as we know it has been depleted of usable resources, and due to this, people were leaving the planet to colonize space. In the EVE Online game, people spread throughout the Milky Way and through out the galaxy, until resources were once again contested and wars broke out. The solution to this problem was a natural wormhole, through which another galaxy could be found. The EVE Gate, an artificial wormhole was constructed to link the galaxies when it was discovered that the natural wormhole was unstable.

The first thing to be aware of is that ore is a basic material that can be found in the asteroid fields that you will encounter in EVE. There are various types of ores, but they are unusable until they have been refined into the minerals that compose them, much like mining in real life. The minerals that result can be very valuable when it comes to things like the manufacture of ships and weapons, and this is how you can get a lot of money through this endeavor.

When you go looking for ore, remember that you want to start off in an area that has fewer than 60 pilots using it. You'll find that competition can be fierce, and when you are starting out, you might need to in a quieter area to make the most of your opportunity. Try to make sure that you are mining in an area that has a refinery nearby; as soon as your hold is full, make sure that you get the ore refined and taken in for ISK, the game's currency, as soon as possible!

When you are looking at ore, the best rule to keep in mind regarding whether the ore you've found is valuable is that the closer it is to A in the alphabet, the more valuable it will be. There are exceptions to this rule, but you'll find that it generally holds true. Also remember that the more valuable the ore, the less you will need of it to refine an amount of mineral that will net you a good profit. It is also fair to say the the more exotic and valuable ore will require some traveling to get to.

The first and most advanced race that can be played are the Amarr, who were the first of the colonies to rediscover space travel. They were on a crusade to spread their thoughts and ideals to the rest of the galaxy and in this, they were aided by the Minmatar, who were more primitive and not so advanced when it came to interstellar travel. After a confrontation with the Gallente and the Jove (the later being the non-playable race), the entire Imperial Navy of Amarr was destroyed. The Gallante were at war for almost a century with the Caldari empire, and tensions between them continue to this day.

This is the general layout for the world of the EVE Online game and into this world, you create a character who can become a miner, a trader, a messenger or even a pirate. These are only some of the options, and you'll find that there are many different things that you can do to make your gameplay enjoyable. There are many different worlds to explore, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Video Game History

Of all the things that the 1970’s produced, there are few that made as big of a cultural impact as video games. There’s no question about it: video games have been a significant force in society and one of the most popular leisure pursuits. Chances are if you’re under the age of 40, you played them, some of us a lot. There was Atari, Intellivision and Colecovision. Don’t forget Sega and Nintendo. Today there are web sites that allow you to download free online games.

And if you remember those days of the late ‘70’s and early 80’s, you recall that the games relied on graphic improvements and better ways of shooting the enemy. It was more or less a solitary pursuit. With the rise of the Internet and online games however, lots of things changed, including the ability to download games and playing online games, making games a more social activity, with lots of players, or opponents playing each other from different countries. This may be the biggest change – and the latest benefit that games have offered the world.

But what about the early days? How did it all start and what were the video games that defined the era?

The Innovators

Many people think that Pong was the home game that started it all, but really it was Magnavox and their "Odyssey" system in 1972. Although it was very simple, it was still the first. It had twelve simple games with graphic overlays. However, there was lots of room for improvement, and that’s where Pong came into play.

Nolan Bushnell created Pong, along with Al Alcorn, the founder of Atari. Rumor has it that when the prototype was tested at a California bar, the machine broke down after two days, because it was so popular. The next logical step was to create a home version. So, one year later, Atari released Pong, complete with built in paddles, and a speaker. Of course, Pong was a huge success and represented a new stage in the evolution of gaming. Over sixty Pong knock-offs would be produced, but Atari dominated the market.

Next was the implementation of the microprocessor, which the entire industry adopted. As a result of this, more complicated systems could be developed. These systems produced groundbreaking and innovative graphical and auditory effects that had never been seen before. Consumers were eating it up. The industry was on fire. In 1981 alone, five billion dollars were spent on video arcade machines and another billion dollars was spent on home video game systems. Atari’s VCS/2600 system remained the dominant player through 1982, when the gaming market experienced a crash.

What were some of the great games? How about Pac Man? Pac Man, the yellow blob that ate up dots and avoided squid-like ghosts, was a worldwide sensation and probably the biggest game of all time.

Space Invaders was another incredibly popular game. In fact, it really marked a turning point for arcade games, bringing them out of bars and into family friendly places like shops and restaurants. The premise of Space Invaders was to stop an alien invasion. This simple formula went on to become the most successful arcade game of all time.

Then there was Super Mario, which was huge as well. It involved an Italian anti-hero who was deliberately designed as a character that everyone could relate to. Soon thereafter came Zelda, Metroid, and other classics.

Rise and Fall of Atari

Atari was the hottest thing in the gaming world in the early ‘80’s. Today, they are a relic of past glory. So what happened? Atari made some bad decisions, and although it’s a little complicated, it’s helpful to understand the situation. At that time in the computing world, magnetic mediums were implemented in the data storage used in Arcade machines. These mediums allowed for a higher memory capacity than ROM cartridges.

In 1982, Atari had the option to include a disk drive in their systems. The price difference would have been nominal, and the memory capacity would have been significant. Atari, however, thought that magnetic media was too “fragile” for the consumer to adequately handle. Atari's "concern" for the customer backfired on them. In the previous years, there had been a very fine line separating arcade game quality from home game quality. With arcades utilizing storage capacities ten to forty-five times larger than home systems that fine line became a chasm. Arcade games seemed to be evolving exponentially, while home systems seemed "stuck in a time warp.”

The public quickly became uninterested in video game specific consoles, and sales plummeted.
This would mark the end of Atari's reign of the video game market.

The Rise of the New

In 1984, everything changed. The reason? Two innovations: The reduction in cost of Dynamic RAM (DRAM) chips which allowed more memory, and the production of higher power 8-bit processors, which lowered the prices of the previous chips. Sega, a new player in home gaming systems, entered the console market with their Master System 2. The Sega Master system would sell very well, but its success would be limited.

The other key player was Nintendo of Japan. The genius of Nintendo was their marketing prowess, as they poured millions into advertisements. These advertisements hit consumers at the perfect time, as evidenced in their sales. In fact, Nintendo couldn’t manufacture enough systems to keep up with demand. After all was said and done, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) would become the highest selling system in history. They would also become the most notorious, as they were involved in the intimidation of retailers, competing companies, and other suppliers and partners.

Over the next five years Sega and Nintendo would battle for dominance, going back and forth. The consumer definitely benefited from this rivalry.

Today, it’s between PlayStation 2, the Xbox and the GameCube. Xbox has taken the step to merge the past and present, where Xbox "Live Arcade" is a console system that has a "download-like" characteristic where you can buy games via the console itself. One thing in the video game industry will always remain: the classic games of yesterday were great games, helped define an era, and will always be fun.

Space Videos

You can take the next shuttle to the moon or planet Mars on NASA's dime. Would you jump for joy and suit-up, or would you cringe at the very thought of leaving this planet's atmosphere? I'm on the fence with this one. A part of me wants to see and experience outer space so badly, but another part of me is frightened. It's difficult to not associate death with outer space. After all, we've seen what can happen to those billion dollar space shuttles. I think for a lot of us, it's best to stick with a planetarium, current space video or DVD. This way we can get a glimpse of what our universe has to offer, but without any danger involved.

Millions of us watched as a civilian, school teacher, climbed into a shuttle headed for outer space. This was back in the 1980s, so I was in elementary school at the time. My teacher happily flipped on the television so that our entire class could view in amazement. Unfortunately our amazement was not related to viewing a successful take-off. Some aspect of the space shuttle was faulty and all went wrong. Lives were ended and hopes were shattered. It was undoubtingly a dismal day for NASA. However, there have also been plenty of successful journeys into outer space as well. You can catch the highlights on a contemporary space video or DVD at home. Teach your children what the folks at NASA have accomplished over the years.

Clearly there is more to becoming involved with NASA than watching a space video or two and feeling passionate about astronomy. If you're really into the stars and moons, I suggest you pursue a college degree in Astronomy or physics. Even better yet, most individuals with a passion for outer space will go the extra mile and acquire a PhD. This way you can become a professor, who teaches the wonders of astronomy, or possibly even acquire a position at NASA. That would be amazing! Imagine telling people you know that you work for NASA. Who can vie with that?

Video File Types

If you want to put video on your website you must have a good knowledge of the basic video file types. What video file type to use? what are the pros and cons of each file type? These are just some of the questions you should ask yourself before proceeding with video implementation on your webpages.

There are three basic video file types on the internet. Mpeg, AVI and Quicktime. I believe the Quicktime file type is the most popular since a lot of huge entertainment and news sites use it exclusively on their web pages.

AVI is the oldest of the three main file types. It is a windows oriented video format but it's not the most popular because of the sound and video compatibility and synchronizing problems. Because the Quicktime format can be used on either a windows or a macintosh computer, the AVI video file type loses it's popularity every day.

The mpeg format is a popular video file type that uses it's high output quality to increase it's popularity over the Quicktime format. Mpeg is used on video games, cd-roms and other media that require high output quality. One disadvantage of mpeg is that it sacrifices file size to gain in digital quality. The mpeg video files are usually large.

Another disadvantage of the mpeg format is that you really need time and sophisticated hardware and software to convert plain video into mpeg. And let's not forget that the mpeg format is not supported by apple and macintosh meaning that if you put mpeg video on your website, those users with macintosh will not be able to see it.

Quicktime is by far the most popular video file type developed by apple for macintosh users, but is also compatible with the IBM-compatible machines and the windows operating systems. The hardware and software you need to digitize video into the Quicktime format is very inexpensive, compared to the mpeg format. So its much easier and cheaper to create video and put it on your website using the Quicktime format.

Market With Video

Online video publishing has indeed taken the Internet by storm in recent years, making the use of video for marketing, promotion, news and PR online a true key strategic component and a key business differentiator for internet marketers who want to communicate effectively about their product profile and benefits within the shortest possible of time.

Internet is full of information and the average attention span of a web user today is measured in seconds. When web users search for their information at a search engine, they will get thousands of search results; when they visit your website, they may only spend a few seconds and little efforts to scan through what you are selling or proposing and decide whether your content, style, look and approach are a good fit for what they were actually looking for. These first few seconds are crucial and if you can delivery clear and targeted message by offering a fast, highly visual way to get their further attention and engage their interest, you have done bingo.

Does this mean that you just need to simply put up 10-min video tutorial on your website or just slamming some video contents up on your web pages, you will instantly sell more products or services? If this is your way of marketing with video on the web and hoping to get high conversion rate of traffic-to-sales, you will more toward getting disappointments than good news.

In order to make your video to effectively market your products/services online and convey your product/service key traits and characteristics within a very short amount of time in a unique, memorable way. These are a few rules of thumb to follow:

1. Get Your Video Seen

If you want your video to be your effective marketing tool, it must be able to see by as many web users as possible. Hence, don't just keep and tight your video inside your web site borders. Let your video content be free and distributed to the majors video sharing websites such as YouTube and Google video so that not only others can watch and talk about it, but they can easily download it, redistribute it, if not even publish it directly on their own sites.

2. Small File & Load Fast

Statistics show that average web users spend their time waiting for a page to load is about 7 seconds. Web pages that take longer than 7 seconds to load, their visitors normally are on the verge of clicking away and visit other website. Hence, you need to make sure your video file is small enough, ideally less than 1 megabyte and load almost in real time to keep the interest your visitors. AVI is the most common video format, the file size can easily exist 10 megabytes for a short 2-3 minutes video; hence if you share your video in this format, you most probably will get "click away" from you visitors because of long loading time of your video file. Hence, you must get a video format conversion tool to convert your video to a more internet friendly format such as SWF format.

3. Let Them Know It's A Video, A Short Video

If the web users do not know that it is a video, they won't click it and play it; hence your video will get watch. So, you must let the web users know that the "box" is a video; the best way is to make it look like a video / VCR-like by having a play and stop button where the web users can click to play the video and stop it whenever they want to stop it.

Let the web users know also this is a short video. No one wants to sit through a 30 minute presentation on the history of your company; be focused on your products/services and deliver your messages preferable within 2 minutes.

In Summary

Effectively market with video on the web is not just slamming some video content up on your web pages, it more toward effective video communication through video publishing & sharing on the web.

Domain Name Hacks .

Traditional domain names consist of a word or phrase that describes a website followed by an extension.  Extensions can be .com, .net or country-based such as .fr or .jp.  So, if this is the case, how can domain names like blo.gs or del.icio.us exist?  It's because a domain name doesn't have to follow a traditional format.  When it is created in the manner demonstrated above, it is called a domain name hack.  With a domain name hack, a domain name spells out a 'word' by using a combination of periods and less popular country-based or state-based extensions.

Now, if you think a domain name hack is a simply a trick created by spammers and/or webmasters with no life, think again.  Yahoo obtained the rights to both blo.gs and del.icio.us, despite their unusual-looking format.  There are also popular organizations that are actually known by domain name hacks.  Examples include who.is, (a site that lets a webmaster know the specifics behind a domain name and their associated website), and whocalled.us, (a site that allows consumers to list the numbers of telemarketers).  Even other countries use domain name hacks in their own languages.  Consider Germany's popular Schokola.de, (which means chocolate in English).

So, does this mean webmasters should consider using domain name hacks?  The answer is it depends.  It is important to remember that while domain name hacks are witty, many of them can be inconvenient for web surfers.  Some may even wonder if the site is legitimate, since the most common extensions are .com, .net, .org and .biz.   However, since there are domain name hacks that still receive a healthy amount of traffic, it is possible that website visitors might overlook how a domain name hack is titled if the site it is pointing to proves to be worthwhile.  There is also the option of having a second more normal-looking domain name point to a domain name hack.  This gives website visitors two ways of being able to access one's website.

How can a person think of a good domain name hack?  First, they need to get a list of all the extensions that are possible with a domain name.  They then need to find a domain name company that sells that sells the extension they are looking for.  Then they will need to think of any word or phrase that includes the letters used in the extension.  But they will need to make sure these letters are at the end of the word, since extensions conclude a domain name.  An exception could be made if a person considers using third-level domains.  In this situation the letters of the extension could be used in the middle of the domain name hack.

If a webmaster finds they are having trouble thinking of a word or phrase that contains their selected extension, they could use a keyword analyzer to help them.  Overture and Google offer keyword analyzers for free, though webmasters might find more use from paid keyword analyzers.  This is because paid keyword analyzers offer more information about a keyword than free ones.

Who Registers

A domain name registrar registers domain names. A domain name registrar is a company accredited by ICANN or by a national ccTLD authority or both to register Internet domain names.
ICANN or Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is a nonprofit organization that is responsible for IP address space allocation, protocol parameter assignment, domain name system management and root server system management functions.
The late Jon Postel created ICANN in 1998 in response to a policy statement issued by the US Department of Commerce. ICANN has authority over gTLDs (Generic Top Level Domains) that include .com, .net and .org. The organization does not have authority over ccTLDs (Country Code Top-Level Domains), which include .ca (Canada), .uk (United Kingdom), .us (United States), .in (India), .de (Germany or Deutschland), .fr (France) etc.
The board of ICANN is comprised of nineteen Directors, and nine At-Large Directors. Directors serve for one-year terms and are succeeded by At-Large Directors. The At-Large Directors are elected by an at-large membership organization.
ICANN has taken various measures to oversee the domain-name registration system's transition from government hands to private hands and to coordinate its decentralization and the integration into a global community.
A company chosen by ICANN to register and manage domain names on its behalf is a designated registrar. There are several domain registrars offering domain registration services. Some of the top domain name registrars include Go Daddy, Network Solutions, eNom, Tucows, Melbourne IT, Schlund.de, Register.com, Wild West Domains (Part of Go Daddy), Moniker Online Services, and DomainDoorman.

The Basics Of Domain Name Registration

As the number of companies offering available domain names increase, the numbers of people who are engaging in domain name registration also increase. This is just the cause and effect situation when it comes to domain name, right?

So for those who are planning to undergo for a domain name registration, some important things specifically about the basics or the ABCs of the domain name registration must be paid attention. Knowing the ABCs of domain name registration will help you to pick up the right domain name and at same time for an easy and smooth process of domain name registration.

First things first, before you go for a domain name registration it is important that you know the nature of the domain name. So what it is? The domain name is basically the address on the internet. It is generally composed of two major parts, the top level domain name and the mid level domain name or the second level domain. For example, in http://yourdomain.com, the “.com” is the top level domain, and the “yourdomain” is the second level domain.

Speaking of the top level domain name since this plays a large role in picking the right domain name for domain name registration; many experts have noted that before you go for a domain name registration, you should identify your top level domain. The .com is the most common top level domain that is used today, for it stands for commercial domains. Of course there are other types and each has its own uses and functions.

Moreover, when you go for a domain name registration, you should know that the domain name that is entered into the domain name registration contact information is added to a database of all the available domain names. As such, your contact, billing, administrative contact, and also your domain name server or DNS is added to this database. It is for the main reason that when someone lookup for a website, you are basically accessing this large database for all of the domain names entered through a domain name registration, and such database directs you to the necessary DNS to access their database to locate which computer your website is on.

Also of important consideration for a successful domain name registration is the awareness that a domain name may contain letters, numbers, and hyphen. Most of the domain names registered today end in the above top level domains, of which .com is the most well-known. Before a domain name registration, you should refresh your mind that a domain name cannot start or end with a hyphen, and no space is permitted before, between, and after your domain. And also you can have characters in your domain name registration for up to 67 characters, however, it is noted that the shorter the domain name, the better. So try to keep it below that length for greater compatibility.

Lastly, in the domain name registration, you should be aware that it is only the domain name registrars who can handle all the process of domain name registration. No one can access and modify the domain name database except the domain name registrars. So if you want to go for a domain name registration, the domain name registrars is the first resource that you should approach.

My Reliable Hosting

In addition to the many conveniences and headaches brought on by our increasing reliance on the world wide web, this new form of communication, advertising and commerce has brought with it  an altered mindset for the new consumer; we want it fast, we want it now, we want it perfect.  From small ecommerce web sites to large organizations, reliable hosting is the key to ensure that customers and viewers see the same site at the same speed every time they visit their favorites.  Reliable web hosting services provide the space, along with support (often 24/7) and the all important bandwidth.  Reliable hosting is key to  success in that it gives the consumer a consistent experience while preventing down time,  that could cost the company in question hundreds, and maybe thousands in revenue.

There is a fine selection of reliable web-hosting services online.  Often these services host in a specific region.  There is a multitude of web sites on the internet advertising the services of one or another reliable hosting company.  Luckily, there are also a couple out there to help you choose what is right for your company.  Netcraft and Web hosting Inspector are two examples of such sites.

Web hosting Inspector provides a comprehensive spreadsheet listing independent test results, awards, rankings services and prices for various reliable web hosters.  Though helpful, Web hosting Inspector feels a lot like paid advertising.  A better choice is Netcraft.  Netcraft supplies a lot of the same info as Web hosting Inspector, but also gives in depth analysis regarding down time, a fate worse than death to any e-commerce entrepreneur. Very often, these companies are run from private homes, a low cost, high return way for the internet savvy to make an income.  However, the very “under the radar” nature of some of these businesses makes it all the more crucial that sites such as Netcraft exist, providing checks and balances to an otherwise turbulent industry.

You cannot have a company on the internet without a reliable hosting provider, with a team of dependable customer service.  Their services are important to keep your e-commerce site consistent; visually consistent,  service oriented and most importantly, consistently lucrative.

As the use of the Internet increases every day, with more people than ever before utilizing the World Wide Web to find products and services they  need, reliable web site hosting becomes a bigger issue.  Consumers will not continue using companies who have web sites that are slow loading or are constantly having technical difficulties and down time.  It could be the death of a growing online company to have a site that’s unavailable for any legthy time frame because of a server problem.  The choice of a reliable web site hosting company is then imperative.

Online companies along with individuals will want to select a reliable web hosting company that also offers great customer service, fair and competitive pricing plus first class management. There are some suggestions you will want to remember when looking for a reliable web hosting company.  If you are seeking quality and reliability you will want to do a some research before you make your  final decision.

When you are ready to start a web site either for business or personal needs,  you need to find a reliable hosting service.  The reason for this is because that will be the place you keep the web pages for viewing by consumers and possible business clients.  If you are just starting with an online presence either as an e-commerce venture or even as an individual you want to first understand the basics of web hosting.  A server is a computer that gets the requests for pages or files from the Internet.  When someone types in a domain name a server somewhere is accessed.  It then shows the requested pages or files to the computer requesting the information.  Another way to look at a reliable web host is, they are a landlord renting you space on their computer to others.  You then have a choice between shared hosting or dedicated hosting.  The difference is evident in the name.  A shared host shares it’s server with more than one client and a dedicated host has one client on it’s server.  Dedicated servers normally are used by e-commerce sites that require a large amount of space disk space and more personal management plus cost a little more.

As the Internet is growing so is the number of companies offering hosting services and the more competitive the market is becoming.  Some offer inexpensive monthly prices, some even offer free hosting.  As a business free web hosting may sound like a great solution however; having a website that is also shows advertising that may or may not compete with your online business is not a very good idea.  In general a free web host does not have the quality of customer service a paid reliable web hosting company would have.  These servers are also normally crowded with personal web pages and have limited options.  Many have technical issues that may include down times which could have a negative effect on your new business.  These are all factors you need to consider.

Paying  more for a reliable web hosting company is a better option.  You want to make a good entrance into the web and if you are already established you want to keep your appearance and your clients experiences positive.  Another issue to think about is future expansion.  A reliable web hosting company can offer a multitude of services and packages to grow as you do.  When choosing a reliable web hosting company think of it as a long term business arrangement.

Before looking into reliable hosting options make a list of what is going to be important to you.  This not only in regards to the web site, but to other aspects such as budgets, what you want to accomplish, short and long term goals.  All these factors need to be considered.  Sit down with other companies about their relationships involving several different reliable web hosting companies.  This may give you a great place to start your search.

We mentioned budgets which most start up businesses need to deal with.  A word of caution here, a reliable web host may not necessarily be the cheapest but you will get what you pay for.  Reliable web hosting can be found at a price to fit just about every imaginable budget.

IP Address And Domain Name

In the early days of the internet, it is just consisted of small number of computers that are bonded together with modems and telephone lines. It is noted that you could only make internet connections by giving the IP or Internet Protocol address of the computer that you wished to establish a link with. However, the mere use of the Internet Protocol or IP address could only be applicable if there were only a few hosts out there, for the reason that it became awkward as more and more internet systems are coming online.

With that major dilemma, the concept of domain name emerged. Prior to the introduction of the Domain Name System, the first noted solutions to the such dilemma was a simple text file that is maintained by the Network Information Center that handles the responsibility for mapping names to IP addresses. But then, the text file became so huge that many people found it too tough to manage. As such, the University of Wisconsin in 1983 created the Domain Name System which has the capability to map text names to IP addresses automatically. And from that introduction, the concept of the IP address and domain names is made known to man.

With the emergence of the IP address and domain name system, the people can know connect with the computers without much hassles. The IP address and domain name system makes everything lighter and easier. This is the common reaction that most people often gave between the IP address and domain name. Well, this is for some reasons true. Even if the IP address and domain name have different identification, both of them are important in the internet world.

Moreover, the IP address and domain name are really strongly bonded for the fact that the domain name will not function correctly without the IP address and the IP address will not also work correctly without the domain name. Such is how connected the IP address and domain name is.

To further show the importance of the IP address and the domain name, it is just a nice thing to consider that the IP address in particular is a 32-bit numeric address that is written as four numbers divided by dots. For example, 1.160.10.240 could be an IP address. It is considered that within a separated network, the IP address can be assigned at random as long as every one is distinct. Aside from that, the IP address is also used in various means to identify a certain network and a host on the network. From this simple explanation alone, the bond between the IP address and domain names is greatly given.

And in terms of the domain name to further show the importance of both the IP address and domain names, it is noted that the domain name identifies one or more IP addresses. The IP address and domain name are therefore used to identify web pages. So, if you type into the browser either the IP address or the domain name, the system will then locate for that page and as a result, the page will be given to you automatically. Such is how the IP address and domain name functions in the internet world.

Profit With Public Domain

Public domain is the world of knowledge that is freely available to the public.  You can find literally tens of thousands of books free to download online from public domain.  The vast majority of these books are usable commercially.  This means that you can make a profit from these resources, leveraging the original author's work for your own income.  Once a copyright expires, the book becomes public domain.  It is completely legal in most cases to resell these works for your own profit.

One easy way to make money with books you download from public domain is by selling them for use on PDAs and iPods. More and more people want to have books available to listen to on their PDAs and iPods.  It makes commuting easier, it helps while standing in long lines, and it's simply fun to
always have a book available to enjoy any where you happen to be.  It is so incredibly easy to profit from public domain in this manner because the format most books are downloaded in is .txt.  This is the same file type required for use in PDAs and iPods, so you do not need to convert the documents before selling them.  This can be so much quicker and easier than creating a typical ebook in a format such as pdf.

Another great way to profit from public domain books is by creating audio ebooks.  You can read public domain books out loud, recording them into your computer, and then convert the files to MP3.  We all know how popular audio books are, and how popular downloading audio is, so put the two together and you have an unlimited audience of potential buyers.  Think of how many high-school and college students had rather listen to the great classics than to have to read them.  If it worked for Cliff's Notes it can certainly work for you!

To make lots of money using public domain books, you can build your own web site, or even sell on ebay.  If you can't build a web site, or you do not want to build your own web site, you can easily outsource this task cheaply.  You can also cheaply outsource having your downloaded public domain
books read out loud for conversion into an audio ebook.  This is a very easily executable idea that you can start using right away to create an income steam.

I do have to give credit where credit is due.  This idea came from the great marketing minds of Alex Mandossian and Armand Morin.  They discussed this idea in detail, along with other great ideas, on their Big Seminar 7 preview
teleconference call.  I felt that this particular idea was so easy and such a great moneymaker that it stood out above all the other ideas I heard listening to to call.  Certainly there is a large market, so let's all take this
great idea, run with it, and create great profits.

Right Domain Name

Many people got lucky and sold their domain for unbelievable prices. Was that pure luck? Or was there something that we still don't know? Is there still domain-gold left in the already mined domain market, to lay our hands on? Lets see.

First of all what we will look in some of the main reasons which makes a domain priceless and sellable.

# Generic or Day to Day life words.

# Their extensions weather it is .com or .net. Its popularity. (Right now .com)

# Less characters. (Say 4 or 5 at most)

# Their pronunciation. (Don't say epdu or something else it is not pronounceable)

# The keyboard relationship. (It would be easier to type in "tyru" instead of "oqzk". Some companies who wants brandable names see this)

Now If we look into the very first point about generic or day to day life words most of them are taken. So how to find some other? Here is the tip. Just try and sit with a pen and paper when you are watching television. Write down the words that you think might be available as a domain name. You can do the same when you are reading some novel or newspaper. This trick surely pays I got many of my domains watching "Terminator" and "Home Alone" kind of movies.

Now the extension. If you have found out a great word which is already registered with .com extension. Then you can try other TLD's. But in this you run into some kind of risk. You can surely reg "fast.net" & "Love.net" but you can't bet your money on "babyboydomains.net" or "Simplyrockingnames.org". So just apply some thinking over here.

Talking about less characters If you find a 3 letter name then just pounce on it. It really has the market. But there are none available right now. So look for 4 or 5 character names. Apply all our rules that we saw before and even then if it passes through all that steps without a hitch then take it in.

Pronounceable or not is also a factor. If you know english language, which I think you will be knowing as you are reading this article then there are no problems. For those who are weak at english they can try http://www.thesaurus.com or any other dictionaries which are available online to look for that name.

Don't get discouraged if your word is not listed in it. You can surely ask some other guy on chat who is not interested in domains about this word. Otherwise the guy to whom you are asking may reg it before you and all your dreams might get shattered into pieces.

The last but not the least is the keyboard relationship. Some companies may look into it. If they are willing to spend their millions for this domain and other millions for marketing it and making it into a brand. You can try this. some words are just a flick on keyboard. As I said before "tyru" is easy to type in. while oqzk is a bit tougher. Just try it and see the difference.

Choosing Business Domain

The domain name for your business is your online identity. You should be very careful about choosing a domain name that is memorable, scores quite well with search engine listings, has a trust factor attached to it, and commands a brand value. A domain name is quite important for your business correspondences and emails. A long one can cause problems in communication, especially if the domain name seems complex. Here are some tips in choosing a well-meaning domain name that captures the essence of your brand image or business:

1. Keyword oriented or a unique domain name? If your website is going to have a crucial role to play in your business, then it is important to have an adequately researched keyword incorporated within the brand name. Use the most searched-for term in search engine queries, within your domain name. Prior to launching your online business, you should do some research through website tools to find out which keywords register the most number of traffic during a month. For example, if you want to make a website based on advising people, you will find that the keyword help is normally typed in the search engine query window a lot more frequently than the word aid. If your domain name includes targeted keywords, than you will get higher rankings in the search engines like Google and Yahoo. You should bear in mind that, apart from having the targeted keyword in your domain name, you should also have keywords in other parts of your site as well.

2. Use a company name only if you are famous: That is right. If your company name overwhelms the basic product name, then by all means go for the company name as your domain name. For example, people normally use the term Xerox rather than photocopy and if you are Xerox, then you should go for Xerox as a domain name because of the sheer popularity of the brand name. This is usually not the case, so using a keyword-rich domain name is a better move for most people. To be on the right side of balancing your business well, you should buy a set of two domain names, one that represents your business/brand name, and another that represents keywords or key phrases.

3. Keep your domain name short: The shorter your domain name, the more memorable it is. If your domain name has an every-day lingo, the better it is! More often than not, you may find that a simple two-word domain name is already taken. The alternative in this case, is to put a hyphen (-) to your targeted keyword and then add the other word. SEO experts are of the belief that hyphenating two or more words makes a long domain name more search engine friendly. The flip side is that people do not tend to write words with hyphens naturally, and there is a chance that if someone has recommended your site to a friend, the friend may find himself going to a competitor’s site. So one has to understand and undergo a lot of study while choosing a domain name. After all, it is one prominent thing that can dictate the flow of your business. Also, you should avoid putting numbers like 4 instead of for in your domain name. It will only lead to confusion.

4. Dot.com only: If you intend to have a website for commercial or business reasons, then by all means go for a website which ends in extension .com. The domain name companies will market other options like .org, .us, .net, etc. However, by all means try stick to .com for better mass appeal.

5. Register similar domain names: If you believe that in the future you are going to have a huge amount of people visiting your website through word-of-mouth advertising, then you should consider registering similar domain names that direct to your main URL (e.g. www.datinginformation.com and www.datinginfo.com). There are cyber-squatters who register domain names in the hope that they will be selling them for a profit to someone who really needs that domain name. Before they do this, you should register the domain names if you think that such a possibility can occur.

6. Be patient: You should not choose a domain name in minutes merely just to get it done and over with. A hasty decision may cost you a lot. It is better to invest time in research and arrive at the right kind of domain name. You should also discuss the comprehensibility and usage of the domain name with friends, neighbors and well wishers to find how simple and commonplace it really is.

Domain Name Owners

As domain names continue to surface, the numbers of people who engaged into getting, purchasing, and owning a domain names rises. This event therefore leads to an increase in number of the domain name owners. Given such fact, the International Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers or the ICANN with its Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and the Anti-cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA) recently presents serious dangers to the innocent domain name owners.

So, there surfaced a number of considerations for the domain name owners to avoid loss of their domain names. One of the considerations that the domain name owners should give attention to lessen the danger of losing their domain names is to get a trademark registration that match their respective domain name. This process is not too difficult for the fact that some of the countries today cater to this service and this is not really required by the law to employ a trademark company.

Following such consideration for the innocent domain names owners’ sake is the act of keeping the Whois information up to date. This is considered to be very important since there are some cases where a court or the UDRP tribunal ruling against particular domain name owners based its judgment in line on incomplete or out of date Whois information. And after doing such move, the domain name owners should also check their Whois and Domain Name System information not just once but always.

Since it is a common case where most of the domain name owners fail to pay their registration fees and therefore lose their domain names, it is therefore necessary for the domain names owners to pay for such registration fees to keep their domain names in function and up to date. One major support for this fact is that Whois information of certain domain name owners that is out of date will only lead to the situation where their domain name registration fee never reached them.

And finally, in cases where someone contacts the domain name owners regarding their domain names, it is important that they are aware that regardless of how folksy or friendly a letter could be from someone asking their domain names, any answers by the domain name owners that makes of the possible blunders may probably cause a lawsuit or UDRP complaint taking advantage of the domain name owners’ blunder. But, if the domain name owners really receive a UDRP complaint, then it is a right time to respond the complaint, since the majority of UDRP decisions against the domain name owners are default decisions that is where the domain name owner failed to respond to the complaint.

Benefit of Expired

When you are creating a business or new website on the internet, as you probably know you will need a domain name. This of course is the obvious for any internet business, without a domain name you will not have a website, end of story. Now if you are new to the internet business world (where have you been?) you may not realize the importance of SEO tactics. SEO tactics, if done correctly, are designed to give you an advantage within the search engine ranks. Of course, you may be sitting there wondering, “What in the world are you talking about”.

Well, this all leads to the title of the article and will answer the question what is the “Benefit of Expired Domains”. You see when an domain has been in use by another person and this person allows the domain to expire without renewing, the domain name is placed back into the pool of “domains for sale”. This is where the benefits begin to show, just like a new domain name, the expired domain name is available to anyone who wishes to purchase it. What is the difference between a new and expired domain name? Simple, the expired domain name has already been in use. This means that the previous own has likely invested a great deal of effort and time, not to mention money into the promotion of that domain name.

Furthermore, this means that the expired domain is likely all over the internet, with a multitude of back links. Think about it, taking possession of an expired domain name means less work for you and more time for other, more important issues. You will have the opportunity to take advantage of the work that someone else has already performed. The expired domain could already be listed with many search engines, forums, directories, and a wide variety of other websites that have this link already on them.

What does this mean? Because the previous owner already did most of the legwork, it leaves less for you to do. The traffic specific to that expired domain now becomes your traffic, which leads to your sales, and ultimately your revenue. All of this because someone else was kind enough to do the work for you already and let the domain name expire.

Now surely you would know by now, that if you were to purchase a brand new domain name, you would have to do all the advertising, promotion, SEO work, submission to search engines, forums, and directories yourself. That is a lot of time, effort, and money spent on your part and trust when we say it takes a lot of all of the above to make a new domain work. It makes sense to take advantage of an expired domain does it not? We think so, you should find the expired domain of your choice today and begin taking full advantage of the legwork that has already been done for you and use it for your website.

Pac Man

Pac- man was created by Toru Itwani and licensed by
Namco. The game was centered on an old Japanese folk
tale.

The object of the game was simply to move through a
maze, while gobbling the dots and avoiding ghosts. Pac
Man was a tear away success spawning a cult in its
wake.

It was picked up for production in the US by Midway.

Pac-man was a nice breakaway for gamers bored with an
extreme dose of space invaders. The game soon went on
to strip ‘Asteroids’ as the greatest selling game of
all time.

Game play

The player maneuvers the protagonist through a maze
eating dots. The game proceeds to the next level once
all the dots are eaten.

There are four ghosts which roam around the maze
trying to catch Pac-man who is the character
maneuvered by the player. If the ghosts touch Pac-man,
a life is lost.

The game ends when no lives remain.

At the corners of the maze there are four power ups.
These power-ups render Pac-man a short-timed ability
to gobble up the ghosts.

Once a ghost is eaten, it returns to the ghost pen
where it is revived. The regeneration time for the
ghosts shortens as the game advances through the
stages.

Despite the seemingly randomness movement of the
ghosts, their nature is strictly deterministic. This
allows experienced players to devise precise patterns
of movement that enables them to complete levels
without being caught ever.

The simplicity of the game and the adrenaline rush it
created, when a ghost came near transformed this game
into an addiction. Unofficially, it is the most played
game of all time.

Multiplayer

A new phenomenon in the online arcade gaming industry
is the rise of MMORPG (Rise of Massively Multiplayer
Online Role Playing Games).

Several thousands of players share a common
environment and fight each other for glory.
Multiplayer online gaming is the newest rage with
programmers.

Almost every game is designed to include a
multi-player option. Arcade games have shown an
ability to overcome numerous obstacles in its 40yrs of
existence.

It was pretty obvious it would win the war with the
Internet. The arcade industry responded to the growing
threat of multiplayer games on internet by coming up
with games of their own.

Like they say "if you can’t beat them join them!"

Common Arcade Games

Lunia is an action packed arcade MMORPG that combines
the classic RPG elements like character growth and
community system with intense paced action. The game
has breathtaking environments and takes you through
eerie dungeons and abandoned castles.

Anarchy Online is a science fiction MMORPG arcade game
that’s hugely popular and won 20 international awards.

The game allows for unmatched character customization,
hundreds of devastating special attacks and thousands
of items. The game sets up a hyper fast game play with
more action and less camping.

The Anarchy online has a well scripted deep story
line. The game lets you play as a soldier, healer,
tech expert, trader or adventurer.

The game features stunning environments with clubs,
bars and apartments.

Anarchy online gives you the option of fighting
thousands of monsters or challenge human opponents in
Player vs. Player areas.

Gaming Community

The success of online arcade gaming can be attributed
to the huge number of dedicated online communities
that support arcade games.

These games have stood their ground at a time when
technological advances have paved way for hardcore
graphic systems capable of rendering movie like
graphics.

The online community regularly conducts tourneys for
arcade games with huge prize money at stake.

Xbox Live conducted a Pac-man championship in New York
in May of 2007.

Nine finalists from around the world fought each other
for a one of a kind Pac-man inspired Xbox 360 console,
100,000 Microsoft points, and a Pac-Man Live Arcade
Trophy.

Finalists were selected based on scores of Xbox LIVE
Arcade leader box from Japan, USA, Europe, Middle
East, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Canada and Mexico.

The primary reason for a spurt in the online arcade
community is the rise of a huge number of multiplayer
arcade games.

Arcade games are from another era that is hard pressed
to survive an intense competition. This is the primary
reason for the close knit nature of arcade gaming
communities.

The resurgence of arcade titles on consoles and
handhelds is another reason for the growing arcade
communities. The online arcade communities have made
sure that arcade games are here to stay.

Arcade games have shown an immense resilience
surviving everything from consoles to the Internet.
The arcade communities have played a huge part in
seeing the genre through the hardest of times.

With the advent of internet, these communities saw a
massive rise in numbers. These communities are closely
knitted and work as a single entity when it comes to
competing game genres.
